Ovidia Yu’s short four-book Aunty Lee series, set in Singapore, is a lot of fun. It’s pretty cozy, but occasionally tackles some difficult subjects, like the difficulties experienced by “guest workers” in Singapore. Although Yu has now moved on to writing her somewhat more serious and also very enjoyable Su Lin/Crown Colony series, I still keep hoping she’ll do another Aunty Lee book, just because Aunty is such a delightful character… In any case, the first book in the series, Aunty Lee’s Delights is now (April 2, 2021) on sale in the US for $1.99, so you can give the series a try on the cheap!
Meddling and Murder is the fourth book in this enjoyable series. It has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle US today.
